Pilgrimage of trust on earth – 37th Taizé Young Adult European Meeting in Prague

6. července 2014

At the invitation of the Ecumenical Council of Churches in the Czech Republic and the Czech Bishop’s Conference, tens of thousands of young adults from all over Europe and beyond will meet in Prague from 29 December 2014 until 2 January 2015 for the 37th European Meeting. This will be the next step of the „pilgrimage of trust on earth“. The program is composed of some very simple elements: the exchange of ideas and experiences in international groups, collective prayer, themed meetings and spending time with the host families.

In previous years a large proportion of the participants were housed by families in the city hosting the event or in neighbouring villages. Several thousand young Christians from Europe and other parts of the world are expected to take part. Each year the participants come to a selected European city and only expect modest accommodation and a simple breakfast. The program of the meeting will take place in different locations, such as community buildings and prayer rooms. Such an unselfish inclusion of young people can often add something unique and can let you experience the vitality of the Gospel anew. All citizens of Prague and the surrounding area are invited to open their homes and to spend time together with the young visitors. The people from Prague can participate in the program - there are no age restrictions, they do not need an admission ticket and booking in advance will not be necessary.

The last meeting was held in Strasbourg (on the German and the French sides) at the end of 2013 and counted 30 000 participants. Among the places that have previously hosted the European meeting are the cities of Rome, Berlin, London, Paris, Brussels, Warsaw, Budapest, Barcelona, Geneva, Lisbon and Prague (1990).
